I originally started making these elegant metal sleeves because I preferred them to lap gussets. As more mountain bike specific butted tube sets have been developed, they have become a mostly cosmetic upgrade. Being cut and shaped from scratch makes them extremely labor intensive, however, they add a vintage touch to any joint that some find irresistible.
